Duck Coops & Deep Thoughts

Oh the constant battle.

I was outside putting my feathered friends to bed, when I had a realization.  As I dumped a

bucket of Layina Pellet into the Duck’s feeder I realized I had an idol I din’t even know existed.  In fact, I had 2! Now they weren’t the type that you would normally think of.  But the reason that I knew they were idols was because they were taking up so much space in my thoughts and mind that it crowded out most other things when I had a moment to think.  So as I had my precious few minutes outside with my hens alone, I would spend them thinking about things that only caused more anxiety, and in fact were crowding out room for me to pray, or thank God, or awe at His majesty.  They had gone under the radar because they were actually really good things.  One of them was not sinning.  Now that is a good thing, but I had started to focus SO much on NOT sinning it had eclipsed something WAY more important and beautiful, Jesus.

Do you have any good intentions that have turned into an idol?

  1. Anna, I find myself getting caught up with that as well. Remember to rest in the Father’s arms. He just wants you to enjoy Him and love Him. Spend time with Him through prayer, His Word, and just enjoying His presence, and that’s where He wants you. If you’re spending time with Him, you won’t have time to worry about ‘not sinning.’

“When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.” -Psalms 94:19

“Come let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.” -Psalms 95:6

Love you Anna. I hope that you will find Rest and peace in the Father’s arms.

  2. It happens. Thankfully the Lord reminds us softly about them so that we have an opportunity to return back to Him and get rid of the idols.

    Wonderful reminder.
